Manawatu Herald. Thursday, November 1, 1923. SCHOOL EXHIBITS AT HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
THE school children’s exhibits, in the past, have been an attractive feature of the local Horticultural Shows. Parents and the public have thus been afforded an opportunity to witness the results and the progress made by pupils in their various studies, such as writing, mapping, drawing, printing, artistic designing and complete exercise books. The exhibits have not only attracted public interest but have been a stimulus and an incentive to the scholars themselves. This year we are informed, there will be no school exhibits by reason of the ' fact that the show comes at a time when the work of the children is required to be concentrated on (lie annual examinations. One cannot blame the headmaster in his desire .Jo avoid any distraction from the strict syllabus routine of lessons, but at the same time there does not appear any rea - son why the results of’ such efforts on the part of the children could not, as in times past, be placed on exhibition. Tn bur opinion, the suspension- 'of school work will prove not only a disappointment to the public but to the scholars themselves.
