BOWLING.
Despite the threatening weather, (he annual Labour Day pairs tournament was held on the local green yesterday, when ten couples competed in a three round competition. Thanks to the supplementary labours of a few enthusiasts early in the morning, the green was in good order -considering the heavy rain during the preceding day or so, and a very enjoyable day’s play was experienced. The steady breeze during the day counteracted the slight sprinkling rain before noon and after the lunch hour conditions were rather pleasant. The tournament was of three rounds of 21 heads, handicap, and the pairs and handicaps were adjusted by the club handieapper, Mr Roorc. The figures for the three rounds - are as follows, the combined handicaps of each pair being given in parenthesis:— Roore and Head:(s) —2228—24— 20—83.
