MISSION OF HEALING.
“DOUBTING CANON REBUKED.” Auckland, October 7. A meeting of clergy was addressed by Mr Hickson on the conclusion of the mission to-day. Canon Tfascldean stated that thousands were heart broken because t hey had not received physical benefit from ahlemling the Healing Mission. For weeks and weeks they had been praying for physical benefit and now alter Ihe laying mi of hands, they were still sick in body. Tie did not doubt many had received spiritual l.cnefil, lint of over 3,000 patients administered to, not one per cent, had received physical benefit and were depressed and heartbroken as a result.
Mr Hickson asked on what basis Canon ITasehlean founded his calculations of one per cent. Nobody had a right to question the power of Jesus Christ in this way. The patients’ lives and condition were now in the keeping of God. The Canon’s disbelieving attitude was hindering Christ. It was his to complete, through their prayers and faith.
The Rev. Cowen said only yesterday over one hundred had come to tell the committee of bodily benefits.

Canon Haseldean explains that he is a most firm believer in spiritual healing in answer to prayer, of which he had experience throughout 'his 40 years’ ministry. His query was*put to Bishop Averill merely with the object of- obtaining a lead as to what the clergy should do with those who so far had not received the physical benefits they had hoped for from attendance.
