BOWLING.

The official opening of tlie local bowling green and croquet courts will take place at 2 p.m. to-morrow. Visiting bowlers and the general public are invited to be present. Invitations have been issued to all clubs in I lie distinct to be present and it Js anticipated that a large prn tlieriiifr will bp present. The work of preparing the green has now been brought well forward and it is expected that the turf will be in good playing order. The president of the Bowling Club (Mr D. Christie) will open the green for flic season’s play at aboul 2 p.m., and at the same time will present to last season’s winner, Mr A. N. Smith, the handsome Wilford Cup, which was competed for as a handicap singles trophy during last season.

The President will also present to last season’s winners (Mesdames Perronu and Owen) the trophies played for on the croquet courts. Bowlers and croquet players are requested to bring a basket, in order to assist with the afternoon tea arrangements. Players are requested to be on the green prompt, so that the necessary arrangement of rinks can tie concluded in good time.
