RETAILERS’ ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the Foxton Retailers' Association was held last night, Mr Christie presiding. The Foxton Silver Band wrote, asking that the shops close for half-an-hour this afternoon in order to W enable employees and others to participate in the procession prior to the benefit football match. —No action to be taken, those present considering that closing for half-an-hour would not be of .any assistance) If. was deckled to donate Cl 1/to the Horticultural Society, being the Association’s annual donation. A deputation arrived from Moutance of the Foxton business jieople toa in regard to getting the assisin erecting a hall at Mqutoa. The deputation was welcomed by the chairman, and Mr W. Bowe thanked the Association for receiving them. He said the hall would cost £GO(f, and they had £250 in cash and a section. —It was decided to assist by holding a shop day in Foxton on November 3rd. A committee consisting of the chairman, Messrs AYinsfanley ahd Smith were appointed to wait on the business people who had not joined s the Association, and to point out the benefits derived from membership. It was decided to observe - the usual half-holiday at the. time of tlie Palmerston N. Show.
