BRITAIN TIIE BEST CUSTOMER
London, Oct. 4. Mr Massey, speaking at a Chamber of Commerce dinner at the Mansion House, traced New Zealand's development. ITe always regarded Britain as the Dominion’s most desirable customer, giving allround preference. “Where it is possible to do business with Britain, no other country has a look in. New Zealand is willing to go further as far as opportunity offers. I believe we can he just as patriotic in trade and commerce as in any othei* wav.
“Trade conditions in England arc far from satisfactory. We must look round for a remedy, and I hope I lie Conference will achieve something in this direction. “The Empire can he made selfsupporting. Why should we not do it? Goods should he marked either as foreign or as produced within the Empire. It is a little, thing to ask, and there should he no difficulty in granting the request.”
