DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.

ANNUAL AIEETING.

The annual meeting of the above "was- held in the Herold office on Thursday night. There was a good attendanee of members present, presided over by Mr S. Head (president). The annual report was read and adopted as follows: —- “T would like to draw attention to the great assistance that has been rendered financially to the club by Mr-; fiend and the ladies' committee by holding a shop day, which realised the sum of £3O .■!/- over and above expenses and which has kept the club clear of debt, and also with the £lO donated by the Council, linaileed the building of a new shed at a eost of £23 8/5. I would recommend that a letter of appreciation he sent to Mrs Head thanking her for this splendid effort. During the season live trophy shoots were held and fifteen trophies to the aggregate value of £ls were shot for. Also five shoots for the Claris Bowl which was won by Rifleman Symonds with nine points. The Club was also represented at the matches for the Field Shield and Fresh Food and Ice Co.’s Cap as well as Ihe Trentham and Ilorowhenua Rifle Association meetings. At the latter the late secretary, Alr-H. Frnnkland, won the championship medal. There is a credit balance of £1 15s lOd in the hank and outstanding accounts to the value of £9 17/6 making a total of £ll 3/4. The thanks of the club are due to all those who donated trophies, thereby making the. season such a success. The club has sustained a great, loss through the departure of Mr H. FrankItind who did such good work as secretary and is now a member of the Karori Rifle Club.” The balance-sheet as read was adopted. > The President, in discussing the balance-sheet, said that, considering the work done on the range, this past season, erection of new shed, etc., the duh had had a very good season. This season they hoped lo lie in a good financial position again.

A letter was read from the New Zealand Rifle Clubs Executive, asking (he dub to furnish them with a list of members of the Foxlon Club who joined the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, giving their names and initials and also any decorations awarded. —Decided to furnish Ihe information asked for. ELECTION OE OFFICERS. Rand; Air Hartley’s trophey: AW S, Head; Mr TL Pranklalid’s trophy: Air TL Hamer; 300 rounds ammunition: Air Furgnsson; Airs Kirkland’s trophy: Mr 11. Hamer; Mr Alelver’s trophy: AW C. Rand; AW C, Simmons’ trophy: AW S. .J. Hartley; Claris Rose Bowl: Air W. Symons, with 9 points. The following are Ihe season’s averages : — A. Barnard 42.75, 11. Hamer 42.19, J. Hartley 41.16; S. Head 40.22, Fergnsson 42.13, C. Rand 39.48, H. Frankland 37.03, Symons 35.5, Admore 34.08. . A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Head for her work on behalf of the club. It was decided that Ihe season open oil the 20th October. Alessr's Admore, AlcAlurray, AfcTver, Rand, and Head and Airs ParIres promised to dona 1 e trophies for Ihe forthcoming season. Decided to donate a trophy for the cadets to shoot for it sufficient inducement is offered. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
