ENTERTAINMENTS.

“MONTE CRISTO” TO-NIGHT.

One! Two! Three! Monte Cristo’s fateful words as one after another of his enemies go to their doom in the 10 reel Fox spectacle at the Town Hall to-night. The cowardly Count of Morserf, erstwhile fisherman of Marseilles, most hated of his enemies, falls stricken by the hand of the sailor whose betrothed he had stolen. The crafty and villainous de Villefort perished by the sword, while over him like •an- avenging angel, stands the spectre of the man he had consigned to death in the rat-ridden dungeon of the Chateau Del Danglers, puny vainglorious banker, risen to wealth and social prominence, over tin: ruin of his former shipmate, finds a watery grave. The whole picture is well described as a mighty avalanche of dramatic action set amid wonderful scenery and produced in Fox’s best style. John Gilbert, E. Stelle Taylor, and Robert McKin head a big cast. Prices to-night: 1/6 and 2/-, children 6d and 1/-.

ROYAL PICTURES. The cast of “The Prisoner,” the Universal screen dramatisation of George Barr McCutcheon’s “Castle Craneycrow,” which will be shown at the Royal Theatre to-night, with Herbert Rav.linson in the starring role, is an unusual one inasmuch as it contains only players who have won • their way to the top rank by years of hard work. There are no players in it who rose to fame “in a night.” Comedy “A Howling Success.” Prices 9d and 1/6 plus tax, children 6d and 3d. The reformation of a millionaire rake and a marriage for money are two of the highlights in the society drama “Divorce Coupons,” to be screened on Friday night. Corinne Griffiths and a new lovely actress named Mona Lisa carry off the acting honours. Special extra: Advance copy “The Royal Wedding of The Duke of York.”
