COMMENCES NEXT MONTH. IMPORTANT CONCESSIONS. Wellington, Last Night, - A statement by Hon. J. G. Coates, Postmaster-General, says the following postage rates will be, adopted on October 1: INLAND LETTERS. Present rate: lid for the first 2oz or fraction and Id for each additional 2oz or fraction. New Rate: Id for the first ounce or fraction and Id for each additional ounce or fraction. LETTERS WITHIN THE BRITISH EMPIRE AND TO CERTAIN FOREIGN COUNTRIES. Present rate: 1-Jd for the first ounce or fraction and Id for each additional ounce or fraction. New Rate: Id for each ounce or fraction. POSTCARDS, INLAND. Present: Single Id, reply 2d. New Rate: Single Id, reply Id. PACKETS, INLAND. Comprising Commercial Papers, Books and Printed Papers etc. Present Rate: Id for the first 2 oz. or fraction; over 2oz but not exceeding 40z., lid; and lid for each additional 4oz. or fraction up to lib; 2d for each additional pound up to 51b. New Rate: Id for each 2oz. or fraction up to 21b; 2d for each additional pound or fraction up to 51b. MAGAZINES. REGISTERED INLAND. Present Rate: Each copy not exceeding Boz, 2d; each additional Boz or fraction Id. New Rate: Each copy not exceeding Boz, Id; each additional Boz or fraction, Id. The Minister stated the total reductions would mean a loss of revenue of a quarter of a million.
