DEAD MAN ALIVE.
Napier, August 29. It was reported from Wanganui that a man whose body has been found floating in the Wanganui river had been, after careful inquiries, identified as Ernest Randall, a man who left Auckland for Wanganui early in June. The “dead” man happens to be in Napier at (lie present moment, and when he interviewed a Telegraph reporter this morning he looked far from being dead. Mr Randall stated that he intended going to Wanganui at the time flip inquest was on, hut changed his mind at the last minute, and came to Napier. “This is the second time I have been reported dead, and I dont’ like it,” said Mr Randall. The first occasion was when the Marquette went down in the Mediterranean, He was in a boat with 79 survivors,and when he landed after many days of privation lie was just in time to attend a memorial service to himself. Mr Randall lias a few friends in Auckland, and cannot understand how the dead man could be identified as himself.
