MOUTOA NOTES.
(From our Own Correspondent.) Moutoa has been bidding farewell to many of its settlers lately, and on Tuesday evening the people gathered together to farewell Mr and Mrs J. Kelly. The school was well filled, and an enjoyable evening was spent in dancing, interspersed with songs by Mrs Hall, Mr Aitken and Mr Maunder. Mr Verne Jewell, on behalf of the old and new School Committees and residents, presented the departing guests with mementoes from their Moutoa friends —Aroha Kelly with a christening mug, Mrs Kelly a handbag, and Mr Kelly a wallet of notes. In a happy speech, Mr Kelly thanked those present for their kindness, and said it had been a pleasure to live amongst the Moutoa people and children, and lie had made some fine friends here. Mr Kelly has been Chairman of the School Committee for thi'ee years, and has always worked for the welfare of the children, who looked upon him as a “pal.” Mrs Kelly, too, has always worked in the interests of the school, and they will both be missed from the community.
Mj: Kelly is leaving Moutoa for health reasons, and feels his departure keenly. We wish him the best of luck and good health.
