FOOTBALLERS’ BALL.
SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL FUNCTION. The interior of the Town Hall presented a very animated l scene last night, on the occasion of the local Football Club’s annual ball. The decorative scheme, dispaying the Club’s colours in streamers, interspersed with greenery, was most effective and artistic. The stage was nicely arranged, and displayed the banners and trophies connected with the various contests. The supper-room decorations were in keeping with the ballroom decorative scheme, and the tables, besides being laden with appetising delicacies, were set out as miniature football fields, with goal posts, etc. Visitors were present from Palmerston N., Levin, Shannon, Oroua Downs, and elsewhere, and among those present were members of the Taranaki reps. The visitors were cordially welcomed on behalf of the Club by Mr M. Perreau. The arrangements were carried out by an enthusiastic committee of Club members and lady friendis, who are to be complimented upon their efforts. The floor and music were all that could be desired. About 120 couples participated. Messrs Perreau and Stevenson officiated as M’s.C. The spot-light effects gave a brilliant effect to the vari-colour-ed costumes. The visitors spoke in high terms of praise of the firstclass arrangements and the fine social spirit evinced. Both from a financial and social point of view the ball was a pronounced success.
