WAR PENSIONER
ACCUSED OF MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS.
Wellington,' Last Night. In the Police Court, John Neill was committed for trial on a charge of making false statements to an officer doing duty in relation to the War Pensions Act, in important particulars, namely, that he was unemployed when he made the statement, and as a consequence received payment, of a supplementary pension. Accused was discharged from the Pukeroa sanatorium in 1920, and received a pension by making allegedly false statements. He also received additional moneys Avhen at the time he was working for the Labour Department at a salary of £235 per annum. Evidence to this effect was given by A'arious officers of the Defence and Labour Departments.
