“HIDING YOUR ASSETS.”
MAGISTRATE EXPRESSES DISSATISFACTION. A .JUDGMENT DEBTOR’S BUSINESS. Auckland, August 15. “I am not at all satisfied with your business. You seem to be hiding your assets from your creditors. I think your case should be investigated by the Official Assignee,” said Mr Wilson, S.M., to a judgment debtor. Watson Russell, optician, of Auckland, who appeared in the Magistrate’s Court in respect of a debt alleged to be due to C. M. Ross Co., of Palmerston North. Under examination, the defendant said he had recently dissolved partnership with one, Innes. The company comprised himself and his wife (£550) and Innes (£450). Witness had not paid oil his shares, and Innes got his interest from the money witness owed him at present. Witness and his wife were employed by the company at a salary of £0 a week between them. The amount due to the plaintiff was for drapery etc. The Magistrate said he could not make an order. The debtor’s business was most unsatisfactory and shond be investigated by the Assignee.
