LEVEL CROSSING FATALITY.

Christchurch, Last Night.

Charles Arthur Wells, aged 62, a retired farmer, died as the result of injuries received in a collision between his car and the Waikari train at Harwood Road crossing near the Papanui railway station. The accident happened at 5.30 p.m. Miss Winifred Byich, who was riding in the car, escaped with a few bruises. There was one train standing at Papanui station and one coming from Christchurch. Evidently Mr Wells did not notice the outward-bound train, the engine of which struck the car amidships and threw it against a telegraph post.
