OBITUARY.

MRS SARAH ANN TRASK.

A highly respected resident of Palmerston North, who had spent the whole of her life of 79 years in the Manawatu—Mrs Sarah Ann Trask —passed away on Monday. The deceased lady, who was born at Foxton, was pre-deceased by her husband, the late Mr George Enoch Trask, some 14 years ago. During the early days of her life on the coast the late Mrs Trask passed through many troublous periods of hostility on the part of the Maoris, on occasions being obliged like other residents to flee from place to place for safety. She leaves a family of eight daughters— Mesdames C. M. Ross, of Palmerston North, J. Connor, of Kauroa, Catton, of Auckland, F. Fraser, of Wellington, Werner, of Auckland, D. Dickie of Porirua, Misses M. and H. Trask of Palmerston North, and three sons, Messrs W. G. Trask, of Levin, and S. 1. and Clifton Trask of Palmerston North. The deceased lady is also survived by two sisters, Mesdames W. K. Simpson, of Palmerston North and D. Poole, of Hawera, and one brother, Mr Wm. Barnett, a resident of the Waikato.

MRS M. A. ROBINSON. The death of Mrs Mary Ann Robinson occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Morgan, Palmerston North, on Sunday, at the age of 76 years. Mr and Mrs Robinson were residents in Taranaki at the time of the Te Whiti uprising and they afterwards went farming in the neighbourhood of Eltham, which was then composed of but one or two houses and a railway siding. Mrs Robinson, who was a qualified nurse, had, owing to the absence of a resident, doctor, many demands made upon her and in the fulfilment of her duties travelled many miles of wild and little traversed country. Following the decease of her husband some 27 years ago, Mrs Robinson sold the farm and devoted her attention to the nursing vocation in Eltham. A residential period of some 30 years was terminated when Mrs Robinson transferred to Taumarunui, where she resided for three years. The last three and a-half years of her life were spent in Palmerston North. There are left to mourn their loss seven sons and four daughters, 43 grandchildren, and five great grand-children. The members of the family are Messrs Oliver (Dannevirke, Harry (Eltham) Fi’ederick (Foxton), William (Ohakune), George and Charles (Tauraarunui), Thomas (Palmerston N.) and Mesdames Alex Morgan (Foxton), Alf. Morgan (Amesbury St., Palmerston N.), H. Allan (Taumarunui), and H. Mason (Pitt St., Palmerston North).
