BOWLING.

.\XXPAL MEETING OF SHANNON CLUB. The annual meeting of members of the Shannon Bowling Club was held in the Pavilion on Thursday evening. Owing to the absence of the president, Mr W. McKegg, through ili-health, the meeting was presided over by Mr E. Spencer. The President in his report stated the Club from a membership point of view, had not made the progress during the past season that bad lieen anticipated owing to the falling off in membership, which had mainly been brought about by members leaving the district. The number of members was now 35 against 40 the previous season. At the commencement of the season the bank overdraft was £4l and the Club had finished the season with an indebtedness of £34. The report stated the Club would have to go carefully into the matter of finance, owing to the decrease in membership and the fact that the Tennis Club would not be occupying the courts. The following officers were elected : President, Mr E. Spencer, vice president, Mr T. Gardner; secretary and treasurer, Mr G. Murphy; lion, auditor, Mr J. T. Bovis; committee, Messrs Murray, E. Butt, Gunning, Clayton, Gagliardi, Watterstou, Knowles and Quarrie; refreshment committee: Messrs Clayton, Watterston and Whibley; section committee, Messrs Gagliardi, and Murray; delegate to centre, Mr G. Stephenson; delegate to triangular shield, Mr E. Butt; green committee, Messrs Murray, Gardner, and Murphy. A letter was received from the Shannon Tennis Club notifying that they would require the asphalt courts after October 31st next, as owing to their increased membership they had been compelled to secure larger courts, The question, then came up as to wliat the Club intended doing with the courts aud after lengthy discussion it was agreed on the motion of Mi* Gunning that persons be allowed to play tennis on the asphalt courts under the Bowling Club’s jurisdiction on and after November Ist. The subscription to be: school children 7/6, ladies 15/-, and gents £1 per season.

Medals won during the past season were presented by the President (Mi- E. Spencer) to Mr Whibley, winner of the singles championship, and Messrs Knowles and Shannon, for the champion pairs. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the secretary, Mr Murphy, for the very able mauner in which he had carried out his duties: also to the retiring president (Mr W. McKegg).
