ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES.
Wellington, Last Night. Herbert Macknelly was charged to-day with fraud in obtaining £IOO from one, Hart, by false pretences. It was stated that accused caused an advertisement, offering a working partnership for £2OO, and guaranteeing £8 to £lO weekly, to be inserted. Hart responded and an interview was arranged. Accused said he had a business at Auckland for advertising in the School Journal. Accused claimed he had the sole rights and as a result, Hart advanced £IOO. Upon ascertaining that accused did not possess the rights as represented he informed the police. Accused was committed for trial, bail being fixed at £2OO.
