O’Connor to play ihe Bush Union at Pahiatua on Wednesday, 25th: The team will as-* semble at Levin on Monday for two days’ practice before the game, and will motor to Pahiatua on Wednesday morning:Full hack: M. Johnson (Hui Mai), three-quarters: Udy (Otaki); Kelly (Shannon) ; Wells (Weraroa): five-eighths: Moses (Foxton), Reid (Foxton); half: R. McDonald (Wanderers) ; rover: Jacob (Wanderers); hookers: Howell (Wanderers); Bevan (Otaki); lock: Tana (Hui Mai); sides: Broughton (Weraroa), Moynihnn (Shannon); back: Rhodes (Otaki), T. Gardiner (Hui Mai); emergencies: backs Linchan (Shannon), D. D’Ath (Otaki). Forwards, Sands (Shannon); Marsh (Foxton). In the House this week Mr Massey stated that an electoral measure is to come before Parliament this session. He added that he proposed to bring down the Bill and then be guided by the discussion as to whether he would go on with it this session.
When the Police Offences Amendment Bill makes its re-appearance before the Legislative Council, it will contain several amendments proposed by the Statutes Revision Committee. One of the more interesting of these concerns the epidemic of borrowing motor cars for joy-riding. Here, the fine has been increased from £2O to £SO, and the term of imprisonment has been made three months. ‘ It is also provided that portion of the fine may be handed by the Court to the owner of the motor ear, as compensation for any ill the vehicle has suffered.
