HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.

AIEETING OF AIANAGEAIENT COMAHTTEE. The weekly meeting of the Alanagement Committee, of the Horo-. whenua Rugby Union was held at P Levin on Tuesday evening. Air J. Procter being in the chair. There were also present Alessrs Sciascia, Casey, Austin, Hutchings, Grimstone, AlcAlillan and the secretary, Air L. S. Carmichael. ROUGH PLAY PEN VLISED. On the motion of Air Hutchings it was decided to severely caution A. Cook, Hui Mai, who appeared before the Union on a charge of rough play and,using threatening language to the referee. .. , J. Aroua, for rough play was also severely cautioned.

F. Wilson, of the Shannon Juniors, appeared to answer charges of fighting on the field, refusing to leave when ordex-ed off by the referee, and giving trouble on the line when he eventually went off. Wilson claimed that the other man was the aggressor. He admitted giving the referee trouble.

The referee, Air W. Neville, explained that lie had had trouble with this player on a former occasion and that he was a thoroughly unsatisfactory . man on a football field. On this occasion the man whom Wilson claimed to be the aggressor had left the field as soon as spoken to, but, Wilson had to be * ordered off three times and. had then made a general nuisance of himself from the line. After some discussion it was moved by Air Casey, seconded by Air Austin tiiat Wilson be suspended for the remainder of the season. An amendment that he be suspended for four playing Saturdays only, was , lost and the original motion carried.

GENERAL. Moved by Air Sciascia seconded by Air Procter that the appointment of Horowhenua selectors for the combined Horowhenua-Alanawatu match against Wellington, lie leftin the hands of the secretary. The secretary was instructed to \ confer with the selector for the rep. team, Air J. J. O’Connor re the team to play the Bush Union, and to make enquiries re train schedule, hotel accommodation,- etc.

Proposed by All* Sciascia, seconded by Air Austin that Air J. Procter be manager for the rep. team to .play the Bush Union. —Carried. Proposed by Mr Sciascia, seconded by Air Austin, that the'secretary’s action re arrangements for selectors for the combined Welling-ton-Alanawatu-Horowlienua team to play New South Wales, viz., two from Wellington and one from each of the other two unions be confirmed. —Carried. Proposed by Air Sciascia, seconded by Air Hutchings, that no transfers from one club to another be allowed. —Carried. On the motion of the chairman, the secretary was instructed to write to the Tokomaru Club for further particulars of Fry’s incapacitation, for the purpose of insurance. Proposed by Air Procter, seconded by Mr Austin, t-liat the New Zealand Rugby Union be written to objecting against any alteration to the Horowhenua boundaries in view of the report of the Manawatu B. U. —Carried. Accounts amounting to £lO Os 6d were passed for payment. BANNER FOR PRIAIARY SCHOOLS. In connection with the banner presented by Airs B. E. AustinJolmston, of Foxton, for competition among primary schools, the following rules were adopted.— (1) The banner to be known as the Austin Challenge Banner. (2) The competition to be open to teams from primary schools within the Horowhenua Rugby Union. (3) If competition should lapse the banner to go back to the donor. (4) The Foxton school to be the present holders. (5) All challenges to be forwarded through the Union. ((j) The winners to hold the banner.

(7) All challenges to be taken in rotation. (8) All games to be played on the home ground of the holders. - (9) The competition to be held under the rules of the Horowhenua Rugby Union, any disputes arising to be settled by the management committee of the Union.

Manawatu Rugby reps, defeated the Dannevirke sub.-union reps, at Daimevirke yesterday by 9 points to nil. -The following will represent the local Thirds v. Shannon at Foxton on Saturday: — Hines, Fuller, Perreau, Ross, Townsend, Robertson, Proctor, O’Reilly, Shaw, Harrison, Sherlock, Wright, Chaffey, Cunuinghame, Ebbett.
