GAS WORKS.

MAY WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of May was 573,400 c.ft., which with the amount in the holder on May Ist, 14,800 c.ft., made a total of 588,200 ft. Dur-

ing the month 471,300 ft. was used by consumers, 27,000 ft. in street / lamps, 29,300 ft. at the works and there was 12,400 ft. in the holder on June Ist, making a total of 540,000 ft., and leaving 48,200 ft., representing 8.1 per cent., unaccounted for. Fifty-one tons of coal were carbonised during the month, yielding 11,127 ft. to the ton. The earnings for the month ,total-

led £346 7s and were made up as " follows:—Gas sales (lighting) £l4O 17s lid, heat and power £149, 6s Bd, coke sales £32 18s 3d, labour fittings 12/9, miscellaneous 6d, fittings £2l 7s lid, tar sales £1 3s, a total

of £346 7s. The expenditure for the month *• totalled £349 3s lOd and was made up as follows: —Coal £123 18s lid, salaries and wages £73 Is 9d, mains £5 10s 7d, services £26 15s 7d, fittings £6 3s 4d, meter repairs £42 16s Id, engine repairs £1 11s 3d, tools 12s 6d, cartage and freight £1 2s Bd, insurance 10s Bd, telephone 10s, working expenses 2s lid, hie cement £1 18s 2d, coke screen £4 0s 3d, sundries 17s 6d, interest and sinking fund £59 11s Bd, being a total of £349 3s 10d.
