LOST IN THE TARARUAS.

A YOUNG MAN’S AWFUL EXPERIENCE.

The young man, Frank Stewart Robbie, who had been lost in the bush in the foothills of the Tararun Ranges since Monday week, was found on Friday morning at 11.20 o’clock, by a search party consisting of his father and Messrs J. Crowther, Sorensen and Cox. The young man is at present conlined to bed at his parent’s residence in Palmerston North, suffering severely from exposure. When found several inile§ back in the bush lie was in an exhausted condition, having had nothing to eat since Monday morning, and being without lire for the whole of that time. He was in a bad state, his feet and hands being considerably swollen. The weather had been very severe for most of the time, and when found he was wet through. The rescuers took off part of their clothing and made him as comfortable as possible with it, but as In was unable to walk out, Mr Crowther returned to Mr Robbie’s farm at the Heights and from there at 1.15 p.m. rang up the police at Shannon giving the news of the rescue. There he was fortunate enough also to meet a party from Palmerston North, organised by the late owner of the farm, who had come down to join in the search for the missing man, and taking a supply of blankets, etc., and an improvised stretcher the party returned to the bush to bring in the exhausted man, who was later conveyed to bis parents’ home by Mr D. J. Lovelock, of Palmerston North, who organised a search party who rendered material assistance.
