MARRIAGE.

MURPHY—BAXTER

A wedding which created a good deal of local interest was celebrated in All Saints’ Church, Foxton, by the Rev. W. H. Walton on Thursday afternoon, the contracting parties being Miss Jessie Murphy, who is well-known locally, to Mr Harold Baxter, of Otaki. The church was tastefully decorated by the bride’s girl friends and the service was choral (the bride being a former member of the choir). The bride, who was given away by her bro-ther-in-law, Mr Kidson, of Napier, was charmingly attired in creme crepe de ehene with panels and sleeves of silk lace and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of snowdrops and frezias. She was attended by her sister. Miss Murphy, who was attired in pale blue jersey silk with hat to match and carried a bouquet of pink heath. Mr Cyril Beard (an old ex-soldier friend of the bridegroom) of Marton, officiated as best man. After the ceremony the party adjourned to Walls’ rooms where a number of guests were entertained and the usual toasts honoured and felicitous speeches made. Mr and Mrs Baxter left by motor for the South Island where the honeymoon will be spent after which they will take up their residence at Morton.
