FOXTON BOWLING CLUB.
The work of top-dressing the local green has now been completed. The croquet court still remains to he treated, hut this will he proceeded with as opportunity permits. A meeting of the Committee was held yesterday afternoon, when it was decided to hold a “bee” tit the green on Wednesday next for the purpose of dismantling and removing the windmill, tanks and stand, which are at present under offer of >:ilo. It was decided to proceed with the laying of sewerage pipes forthwith, in order that this work he completed before the adjacent hanks are put in order.
A meeting of the Al.anawatu Centre will he held at Palmerston N. on Monday next, July 2nd.
By the courtesy of a Palmerston howler an award of £1 Is each is offered for the first four selected “Chanteys" for the use of the Bowling Clubs in the Alanawatn Centre. These may he selected or original, but preference will he given to suitable words set to well known tuneful airs. From four to twelve lines each are suggested.
Competition open to howlers and others. Name and address to he enclosed. Messrs G. Bartholomew, J. A. Nash, and J. IT. Stevens have consented to act as judges. Entries close 31st August, 1923.
