Followers of soccer in this district will he aHorded a special opportunity on Saturday of witness-* hi"’ good. play. Dawbers “A,’ Palmerston North, will meet St. Andrew’s, also of Palmerston North, on the Foxtail racecourse, in a qualifying match for entrance to the Chatham Cap Competition. Kick off at 3 p.m. Both Dawber’s and St. Andrew’s are recognised as having good teams, and in past matches with Paxton have been successful! in winning their gamts. 1 he match Dawbers v. Foxtail, played locally three weeks ago, was described as the best exposition of socecr seen this season, so it can he anticipated that this contest, especially in view of its purpose, will b.? worth witnessing.
The abating of this match to Foxton is an indication that the local committee are working for the advancement of the League game in this town, and the securing of such a fixture should do a good deal towards making soccer still more popular locally. Admission will he free.
