POWER FROM MANGAHAO.

AVAILABLE IN JUNE NEXT YEAR. Some light was thrown on the probable dale of supply of the Mnngahao hvdro-electric power by a question put in the House of Representatives by Mr W. 11. Field (Otnki), who asked the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. J. ft. Coates) whether he could give a delinite reply as to the time next year when it would be available. It had been stated some time back, he said, that it would be available at this time next year. Was there any possibility of further delay? The farmers would like to know. They wished to change from hand-milk-ing to machine-milking. Some had put in machines, and it would satisfy them to know if the power would be ready in a year’s time. The Minister said that the power should be ready this time next year. Heavy floods would cause a good deal of delay, but if the work could go mi as it was going now. there

was no reason why the power should not lie ready in June .1924. If the Power Board had ils reticulation ready to receive I lie power when it was ready there should be no delay, as the (loverninent had the work well in hand. The only thin*’' that could delay supply of the power by lee dale mentioned was Hoods.
