DEATH OF A MAORI WOMAN.
CORONTAL ENQUIRY. "
An inquest touching the death of the wife of Te Ahau Renata was opened at the dwelling of deceased’s husband at Marotiri yesterday afternoon by the coroner (Mr A If. Eraser). After vewing the body, the inquest was adjourned till today. The husband of deceased stated that deceased had been ill for some time and had been confined to her bed for about a fortnight, and died at 12.30 on Monthly. During her illness deceased was attended by a doctor. About six months ago deceased’s mother died of eonsumfition and about a fortnight ago her father died. During the past fortnight deceased suffered a good deal from headaches, coughs and sweats.
Dr. Wyllie in evidence staled that he had attended deceased about four months ago. He asked deceased to come back again for the purpose of making a bacterial examination but she did not do so. In his opinion the cause of deplli was tuberculosis of the lungs.
• The verdict was returned in accordance with the medical testimony.
