COOPER’S EXECUTION.
DATE NOT YET FIXED
Wellington, Last Night.
No date lias yet been fixed for the execution of Daniel Richard Cooper, the Newlnnds murderer, who is under sentence of death at the Terrace prison, as the matter has not been dealt with by the Executive Council which meets after the ret uni of the Prime Minister from the South Island. Several other members of the Cabinet have also been away from the capital. When the matter was referred to the Minister of Justice, lie stated that he had nothing whatsoever to communicate regarding the matter and declines to make any comment on the suggestion that Cooper might he executed away from Wellington, in deference to public opinion. It was possible that an official pronouncement in that connection would he made after the matter had been dealt with hv the Executive Council.
