REMARKS BY AN OLD IDENTITY.
Mr Edmund Osborne, one of Foxton’s old identities, now resident in Auckland, where he is manufacturing and distributing his famous “Tohunga” and “Qureca” preparaions in a recent communication to the editor says he was interested in reading of certain old identities. Here is what he says: “I was especially pleased to read of the honcurable achievements of Messrs A. Pis. Easton and Geo. Coley, the for- " ' mer in connection with his active 40 years service to his church and the latter’s continuous service on the Borough ,Council for nearly a quarter of a century. The first Sunday I was in Foxton Mr and Mrs Easton, were starting on an afternoon ride when Mr Easton probably noticed my lonliness and recognising our having done business together before he came to Foxton, came and had a few words, which cheered me, as I did not know another soul in Foxton at the time. “In reference to the late Mr Fowler, who died at Palmerston recently, I may say that he came to Foxton preparatory to taking charge at Palmerston North. It was his first billet in New Zealand. The writer was in charge of the Ready Money Store and Mr Fowler came to acquire all the experience in as short time as possible. T was instructed to report on him to Messrs Joseph Nathan and Co. and I could do nothing but report favourably. After a few weeks he was placed in charge at Palmerston North.”
