THE DUKE OF YORK.

IJKKLY ahpointment. GOVERNOR-GENERAL of new ZEALAND. London, May 5. The Australian Cables Service say that-there is a liklihood of the Duke of York being appointed GovernorGeneral of New Zealand, in succession.to Admiral Lord .Tellicoe. It is pointed Put that Xew Zealand is the best training ground for a novice to gain experience, since it does not possess the possibilities of constitutional complications like the Dominions composed of federated selfgoverning States. (It is ratber strange that this-in-teresting item was not forwarded to Ibe Xew Zealand Press. The message that reached there was a likelihood of the Duke of York being appointed to a vice-regal position, but no mention was made of New Zealand as the contemplated post).
