WANGANUI MEETING
ROUEN WINS CONNOLLY HANDICAP. At the opening day of the' Wanganui races Rouen, a locally owned horse (Mr B. ITepner’s), trained by Mr A. Wk-ight, won the Connolly handicap. Alljdarted for this race except Kareao. Quest (R. Reed) was the actual favourite, Rouen and Bonmerdav being next in demand. Megan rushed to the front, and going out of the straight was showing the way to Kinsem and Quest. Racing along the back, Kaotane improved his position, and was level with iVrojriJii lmlf o mile? from homo. Tho hitter dropped biiek i\\ the homo bend, and finished in the ruck. Quest was well placed entering the straight |,nt at the distance Bonetler took charge, lint was l»ealeu in the run home by Rouen, who finished well out and won decisively. Quest struggled on and heat Correspondent for third place. Helen Rufus was in the picture two furlongs from home, bill failed to stay it out. Trespass was always at the tail end of the field.
