MANAWATU-OROUA RIVER BOARD.
ENGINEER COMMENCES SERVE Y. ,\fr Hay, engineer of the Mana-walu-Oroua Kiver Board commenced the survey of the land between Whirokino and Hartley's Bend today. This is t lie commencement of the survey to ascertain which is the best route to put in a relief cut lo drain the water from Mouloa and to avoid the long and circuitous course between Whirokino and Hartley’s Bend and to find the most economic route to serve the interest of the whole district to the best advantage. This survey will take two or three weeks lo complete. The survey deals with the lirst or lower cut, which will be undertaken lirst as a matter of principle. The whole survey will take about six months to complete, and will embrace both sides of the Manawatu river up to Linton, both sides of the oroua river to Kopane, together with surveys on the lines of all possible overflow channels or “cutoffs.”
