PESTS IN BARK.

ON IMPORTED POLES

While passing through Woodville recently on the way to Maharahara, Mr K. W. Dalrymple, of Bulls, and Mr X. S. Tankersley, of the staff of the Agricultural High School, found in some imported iron bark poles lying on the roadside some grubs that Dr. Tillyard belives to be those of Phoraeantha trieuspis, a dangerous timber pest in Australia. The danger of importing these pests with iron bark poles has frequently been mentioned, and Electric Power Boards and others interested should lie on their guard. Poles with bark adhering are particularly likely to harbour pests.—-Feilding Star.
