THE MAYORALTY.
MR CHRYSTALL CONSENTS TO NOMINATION.
A deputation consisting of Crs. Coley, Bryant and Smith and Air Perreau, waited upon the Alayor at the Council Chambers this morning and presented him with a requisition signed by 127 electors urging him to continue in office for a further term. Air Perreau, in presenting the petition, referred to the good work done by the Mayor during the time In- had occupied the Mayoral chair and the interest lie had taken in all local matters for the advancement of the town. Dn beh't of the petitioners he promised Air Clirystall to render support in securing his re-election. Cs. Coley, Bryant, and Smith endorsed those remarks. Cr. Coley said he thought it was essential that the Alayor should continue in office until the water and drainage scheme was completed. The Alayor thanked the deputation for the eulogistic remarks and said lie would have much pleasure in acceding to their request. He desired to see the town progress and was pleased to see that the petition contained the names of influential people, which indicated that the Council had the confidence of the people.
MR. nOLLTNGS’ CANDIDATURE.
Air P. L. Hollings. a candidate for the Arayoralty, will address a meeting of burgesses in the Royal Theatre on Thursday evening next, in support of his candidature.
