ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
WELLINGTON SOUTH V. FOXTON The above match was played at Foxton on Easter Monday jt about 200 spectators. The visiting team won the toss and decided to take advantage of playing with the wind in their favour. Right from the word “go” the pace was hard and fast, and some pretty football was seen in the first half. Although Foxton opened up the score for the day, ere the whistle blew half time it stood at 3 —l in favour of the visitors. On resuming play the Wellington boys soon - found that the Foxton defence was losing ground, and they took advantage of that state of affairs by adding more goals to their score. The game in the second half, as regards play, fell away badly, and ended with the score being 7—l for Wellington. Robins, for Wellington, is worthy of special praise and filled the position of right half-hack to peifection. Morgan, for Foxton, also filled that position in a manner worthy of' praise, it having been his first time in the field. He played a very good game and with more practice he will make a fine player.
Tn the evening the visitors were entertained in the Town Hall sup-per-room at a Smoke Concert, fifty being present. During the evening the usual toasts and speeches were made, and items given by the visitors and local boys. The singing of Auld Lange Syne brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
