THE LOCAL WHARF.
RIGHT OF ACCESS. As a result of the deputation representing the Foxton Harbour r ßoard which met the General Manner of Railways and his officers at Foxton-on Tuesday, February 6th last, to confer re access to the Harbour Board’s wharf, and also in respect of the cart right-of-way to Messrs Levin and Co.’s store site, the Chairman of the Harbour Board has received the following communication from Mr McVilly:— 'With reference to the representations made-at' the recent interview *at Foxton with, a deputation from the Foxton Harbour Board regarding the question of access to the wharf and to the Board’s endowments, I have the honour to inform you that the Department will provide one or two additional planked ways to the wharf in positions to be arranged by the District Engineer to give cart access to the wharf, it being understood that in the event of the Department’s arrangements necessitating it such ways may be terminated. In respect to the cart right-of-way to Levin’s store site, the Department will grant the Board a right-of-Avay for 21 years from 1928 subject to cancellation on six months’ notice if the land is required by the Department for railway purposes consequent on- circumstances necessitating a re-or-ganisation of the railway station. In such an event the Board would require to provide road access to its endowments, including Levin’s site, by roadway outside, the railway yard. “If an application is made by the Board on these lines arrangements will be made accordingly.”
