TENNIS.
Pour players from the 1' oxton Club took part in a Yankee Tournament at Bulls on Monday, viz. Mrs and Miss McMurray and Messrs McMurray and Procter, in, the ladies' and men’s doubles respectively. They succeeded in reaching the semi-finals in each instance, winning four games each. Following are the detailed results of the match played on Saturday at Palmerston N. between the Manawatu and Foxton Tennis Clubs which was won by the latter team by 12 sets to 6: — ' Ladies’ Singles—Mrs Lovelock lost to Miss McMurray, 5 —9; Mrs Pearce lost to Mrs McMurray, 6 9, Miss Thornley lost to Miss Strand, 59; Miss McKenzie beat Miss Barber, 9—6; Miss Robertson lost to Miss Perreau, 4 —9. Ladies’ Doubles—Misses Thornley and McKenzie beat Misses Strand and Barber, 9 —7; Mesdames Lovelock and Pearce lost to Mrs and Miss McMurray, 6 —9; Misses McKenzie and Robertson lost to Misses Strand and Perreau, 9 5. Men’s Singles.—Wilton lost to Ross, 2 —9; Fowke lost to Proctor, 69; Rev. McFarlane beat McMurray snr., 9—5; Williams beat McMurray junr., 9-r-5. Men’s Doubles. —Wilton and O’Kane beat Ross and Proctor, 9—5; Ferguson and Fowke beat McMurray and McMurray, 9 —5. Mixed Doubles.—Mrs Lovelock and Ferguson lost to Ross and Miss McMurray, 5—9; Mrs Pearce and Wilton lost to Mrs McMurray and McMurray, senr., 4—9; Miss Thornley and Fowke lost to Miss Strand and Proctor, 4 —9; Miss Robertson and Lovelock lost to Miss Perreau and McMurray, junr., 5 —9.
