PERSONAL.
Yesterday Mr Massey, Prime Minister, celebrated his CTtli birthda v.
Mr Ed. Newman, ex. M.P., for Manawatu, accompanied by Mr J. Linklater, M.P., visited Foxton today. Mr Newman has greatly improved in health. Mr A. McR. Davidson, the recently appointed first assistant at the local State school, will take up his duties on April 4th. Miss Marion I. Edwards has been appointed temporarily as assistant teacher at the local State school and will take up her duties on April 4th.
At the evening service at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday night, Mr John Ross was inducted as an elder of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. The induction ceremony was performed In- the Rev. Frank McDonald.
We regret to state that the Rev. Father Doolaghty has been confined to his bed for the past fortnight. He was able to get up for a short time yesterday and is now progressing satisfactorily. During his illness the Catholic services in the parish have been conducted by visiting priests.
