FIRE BRIGADE.
MONTHLY MEETING
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Fire Brigade was held in Perreau’s rooms on Tuesday night. There was a good attendance of members present presided over by Deputy Nattrass. An apology for absence was rereived from secretary Rotter. RESIGNATION.
A letter was read from Fireman Tf. Frankland tendering his resignation owing to him leaving the district.
Much regret was expressed when the letter was read. Deputy Nattrass said that he had known Mr Frankland for a considerable time and he had never met a more conscientious and interested fireman. The brigade was losing one of its best members and “a jolly decent fellow.” He understood, however, that Mr Frankland was going away to lietter himself and wished him all success.
Firemen Perreau and Hamer endorsed Deputy Nattrass’ remarks. DONATION.
Fireman Frankland wrote asking that all money owing to him from the brigade be donated to the Social Fund. Received with thanks.
New Member. —Mr W. Griffin was elected a member of the brigade. Social Committee. —The following members were elected a social committee: Messrs Pearson, Perreau, Nattrass, Hamer, and Wilson.
Foreman H. Hamer gave an interesting report on the Dunedin demonstration held recently. Much experience was gained by the team and taking into consideration that the brigade is yet in the embryo stage, the times compared very favourably.
