HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Committee of the Horticultural Association was held on Tuesday night, there being a good attendance. The appointment of an auditor to till the vacancy caused by the departure of Mr F. D. Wflibley, was considered. Mr D. R. Ogilvy was elected to the position, subject to his consent.
The resignation of the secretary (H. Franklaud) was received, owing to his leaving Foxton shortly. Mir Franklaud said that he had done his best for the Society and had found the work very interesting, but felt be had not been as successful as some others would have been. The secretary’s resignation was accepted with much regret. Members spoke appreciatively of Mr Frankland’s efforts at show-time, and expressed the opinion that, considering the work was quite new to him, he had done very Avell. Mr Frankland agreed to prepare a balance-sheet and have same audited before his departure. It was decided to hold the annual meeting during the third week in May, the date to be arranged later.
