BOROUGH WATER SUPPLY.
SATISFACTORY HIGH PRESSURE TEST.
On Tuesday afternoon, following the completion of the water supply reticulation a “high pressure” test of the water mains was made. The pressure was boosted to 1201bs. to the square inch and a fine stream of water from a hose length was obtained, the jet easily spaaing a throw of over 87 feet horizontally measured. At the same time a squad of men went over the course of the various mains laid and everything was reported satisfactory, there being no signs whatever of any leakage. It is understood that equally good results can be obtained from two or even three separate leads of hose, as there would not then he so much dead water n the mains. In the case of a big conflagration by shutting off the valves in the unaffected portions of the system, still greater pressure can be obtained.
