FESTAL FAIR.

OPENED TO-DAY.

The monster fair was opened this afternoon in the Town Hall by the member for the district (Mr J. Linklater). Air Linklater congratulated the workers on the excellent display of goods and the attractive stalls and wished the effort every success. A glance into the hall presented a hive of industry. The stalls are laden with goods of first-class quality at bed-rock prices and it is evident that every shilling spent at the fair will gain a return of fair-square value either in goods or amusement. The stalls have been attractively arranged and prettily decorated by I lie ladies and present a most pleasing effect. The tea rooms are very daintily decorated in pink - and mauve. The stalls and holders are: — Sewing stall: Alesdames Honore and Cowley; sweets and cake, Mrs Banks and Misses. Chalk and Walker; produce, Mesdam.es Thornber and R,inimer; jumble, Alesdames Ashmore and Chalk; village pump and fish pond, Misses Osborne (2); tea and supper rooms, Mesdames Bullard and Oxley; shooting gallery, Mr Walker; falling heads, Air Bullard; competitions, Air L. Bullard.

To-night various novelty competitions will be got off providing plenty of fun and demanding ample skill from the entrants.

The management of the Town Hall pictures has kindly permitted the screening of pictures each night. The operator (Mr Horace Reid) has also kindly consented to screen the lilm each evening. To-night’s pictures have been loaned free of charge by the B. and C. Film Co. The titles are, “What the Sea Hides,” an Educational picture, and “Kidnapping Caroline,” comedy.
