FOXTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the above was held in the Town Hall supper-room on Thursday night. There was a record attendance presided over by Mr H. Hutchins. The report and balance sheet as previously published in the Herald, was read and adopted, on the motion of Messrs- Christie and Bryant. In discussing the report, Mr Robinson considered that too little encouragement was given to lower grade players. He hoped that more consideration would be given to them this season. Mr R. Rangiheuea tendered his resignation as hon. secretary to the club, which was accepted with regret and appreciative references were made to the services rendered to the club by Mr Rangiheuea. Mr K. Hirini was unanimously elected secretary.

Offices for the year were elected as follows: —Patron, J. Linklater, Esq., M.P.,; President, C. E. Robinson Esq.; Committee: Messrs H. Reid, F. Williams, F. Robinson, E. Bryant, J. Desmond and V. McDowell; Vice-presidents: Messrs W. Kirkland, J. T. Follas, H. D. McIver, F. K. Robinson, 0. R, Robinson, D. Christie and Drs. Wyllie and Rowley; Referees: Messrs W. Neville and Roore; Coaches: Seniors, J. Desmond; Juniors, Mr M. B. Bergin; Thirds, Mr Fred. Robinson; Fourths, Mr W. Androsen. The question of increasing, the members’ subs, for all grades was discussed. Messrs Hutchins and Roore pointed out that by adopting this step, the cost to each individual player would, when spread over the whole season, be a shade over £2 18s, for football outfit, car fare and subscription. If the club thought lit to oppose the question if meant that each player would spend as much as £5 for the season, if he paid his own way through. The meeting, however, decided to adhere to last year’s scale which is 7/6 per member for the first three grades and 1/- fourth grade. The question of encouraging football in the local Slate school was brought up by Messrs Hutchins, Christie, Robinson and Roore and it was unanimously decided to present the “Austin Banner” to the school for competition either locally or with neighbouring schools in the form of a triangular contest every year. Mr S. Austin said the idea of assisting the school in this connection was a very good one and was deserving of every support. He would undertake to renovate the banner which was donated by bis mother. Mr Fred. Robinson suggested to call a meeting of the members of the old Awaliou team to discuss the conditions under which the banner is to be competed for. This suggestion was agreed to.
