The report of Hie annual meeting of the Foxton Football Club has been crowded out of this issue.

A sharp and prolonged earthquake was experienced at 8.45 last evening.

Miss Diamond, who is commencing business in Foxton, will open in premises next Mr Perreau’s next week. A concert and dance will be held in the Oroua Downs TTall on Wednesday evening next, in aid of Foxton Citizens’ Queen candidate. Cars will leave Perreau’s at 7.20. Fares 2/- return. A most enjoyable time is promised all who attend. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent by the Presbyterian Ladies’ Social Guild in the Sunday schoolroom on Wednesday last. The hostesses were Mesdames Jack and Whitehead, A. Speirs and John Ross. The Guild decided to have the Church ground's put in order and, if possible, to keep them in order.

At the conversazione and farewell to Mr and Mrs Freeman in the Town Hall on Thursday night, the dress circle will be free to on-look-ers. The concert, programme will take place between 8 and 9 p.m. and dancing from then onward. Vocal and instrumental items will be given by local and district performers. Special music will be provided for dancing and the catering is in capable hands.
