CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I agree with your correspondent “Ratepayer” in his protest against the Council’s proposal to use the insurance money soley in the erection of a Municipal Chamber, without making provision for a public library and reading room. If the money in hand is not sufficient for the combined purpose, the Council should take the ratepayers into its confidence and ask for a further » sum to supplement it, so that a building can be erected which will be worthy of the town, and which 'should include not only a Council Chamber, but a suitable library and reading room, which are badly needed, and, what is still more necessary, a rest room for women. If I am elected as Mayor, that will be part of mv programme. —I am, etc. P. L. POLLINGS.
