FOXTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET.

The following is the report and balance sheet to be presented at the annual meeting to be held in the Town Hall .‘•upper-room this evening.—

In presenting the annual report and balance-sheet for the past season your committee desires to congratulate members on the successful operations dining the year. The season commenced with a credit balance of £ll 8/11 and closed with a balance in hand of 18/5, a position which, in view of the heavy expenses incurred during t|he year, is highly satisfactory. In connection with the finances, the club is greatly indebted to Mrs Geo. Small, through whose efforts in arranging two footballers' balls, no less a sum than £6 2/8 found its way into the coffers of the club, and your committee recommends the placing on record of their keen appreciation of the valuable assistance she lias rendered. Special mention may be made of the manner in which donations and subscriptions ■were received, which indicates the keen interest taken in the club’s welfare by members. From donations no less than £8 2/6 was received and your committee would be failing in its duty if it were to pass this by without appreciative acknowledgment.

Last season Mr J. T. Follas donated two gold medals to be disposed of as the committee thought fit, but owing to lack of harmony in Union affairs your management committee came to no decision in the matter. However, these trophies will be avalable for the current season, and it will be the duty of the in-coming committee to consider their allotment. With the object of fostering football in primary schools, thereby establishing an early love for the sport and a sound grounding in the rudiments of the game, as well as ensuring material for the future, we would recommend to this meeting that the question of donating a trophy or trophies to the local State School for competition be considered.

"We regret to record 1 the death, through accidental drowning, of the late Mr “Skip” Baker, who was an active member of the club. Your committee subsequently circulated subseripton lists on behalf of the widow and family which resulted in tht sum of about £5 being collected. We also regret to record the death, by accidental drowning, of George Small, son of Mr and Mrs Geo. Small; also the death of the little daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Desmond. In the latter two cases the club provided wreaths to be -placed on the graves. Your committee wishes to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the club’s treasurer (Mr Bergin), not only in the ordinary capacity of his office but in other matters of importance to the club during his term of office. Your committee has no doubt that members generally will join with us in our appreciation of the generous way in which the local press has given space for reports of matches and football matters in general, a fact which greatly sustains interest in the sport. In conclusion your committee desire to say that the prospects for the current season are very encouraging and that a very successful season is anticipated. The balance sheet shows total receipts for the season £46 17s 7d, made up of members’ subs., £ls Is, donations £8 2s 6d, Insurance £6 2s 6d, dance £6 2s Bd, credit from last season £ll 8s lid.

The expenditure amounted to £45 19s 2d, the main items of which are: 2 footballs £2 10s, Insurance £6 2s 6d, .affiliation £2 3s Od, outstanding subs. £2 ss, ear hire for delegates £24 11s, miscellaneous £8 7s 2d, leaving a balance in hand of 18/5.
