PRESENTATION TO RACING CLUB SECRETARY.
At the conclusion of the meeting of the Stewards and committee of the Foxton Racing Club on Saturday afternoon, the chairman of Committee (Mr W. E. Barber) presented Dir and Mrs Freeman with a handsome and suitably engraved silver travelling clock, as a mark of appreciation and goodwill from the Stewards. A telegram was received from the President (Mr J. R. Whyte, Tokomaru) regretting his inability to attend owing to an important County Council meeting. Mr Whyte conveyed his keen appreciation of the excellent services rendered by the secretary during his term of office, and whilst regretting his departure, wished him every ,success as “mine host” at the Albert Hotel, Auckland. In making the presentation, MiBarber referred to the well-sustain-ed popularity of the picnic race meeting of the Dominion, due in a large measure to the secretary’s efforts, and also spoke of Mrs Freeman’s hospitality during the past Lhree years on the occasions on which ail committee meetings had been bekl in tbe large dining-room at the club residence. Mr and Mis Freeman both suitably acknowledged the gift and kindly expressions. AH- Freeman said while regretting their departure from Foxton and the Racing Club, he felt that the opportunity which presented itself at Auckland of the management of the Albert Hotel would be to liis advantage.
