' IMPROVEMENT OF 4A MILLIONS. Wellington, Last Night. The following statement regarding the finances of the Dominion for the current financial year was issued by the Premier to-day. Total revenue for the 11 months ended February 28, £22,140,189; for the corresponding period of the previous year, £20,226,801, increase £2, 233,388. Expenditure for the 11 months ended February 28, £22,588,243; expenditure for the corresponding period of the previous year, £25.041,314. decrease, £2,454,071. Taking the two together, an improvement of £4,667,459 the elfect .of savings and reductions in expenditure is indicated by these figures, but in order to stabilise the position and keep the national expenditure within the national income and so enable Parliament to reduce taxation, a continuance of strict supervision over the spending power is essential.
