LANTERN LECTURE.
There was a large attendance in the Methodist schoolroom on Tuesday evening on the occasion of the lantern lecture given by Mr Thompson of the China Inland Mission, ill' Thompson is' a Chinese missionary, and is on furlough after a period of nine years missionary work in China. The Rev. Walton tilled the dual position of chairman and lantern operator. The Rev. Mr McDonald Who was to preside, was unable to be present. Mr Thompson spoke interestingly of the houses, customs and religions of the Chinese people with whom ho had worked and come in contact. He also referred at length to the work of the various missionary societies operating in China. The illustrations were varied and intensely interesting. At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the lecturer whose address will no doubt stimulate a local interest in missionary work.
