ORPHANAGE FIRE.
TWO CHILDREN MISSING
■ Auckland, Yesterday. Sad developments have occurred in connection with the fire at the Roman Catholic orphanage at Takapuna oil Sunday. It is feared that one boy has lost his life and the whereabouts of another are unknown. The roll was called on Sunday when it was thought all were accounted for hut subsequently Ronald Morris could not be traced. As regards the other boy, he also is not traceable, but one Sister is sure she saw him on Sunday. BOY’S CHARRED BODY IN RUINS. Auckland, Last Night. The charred body of Ronald Morris, aged nine years, was found this morning in the mins of St. Joseph’s Orphanage. At the inquest the police said the hoy - had been an inmate for two years. Splendid rescue work had been performed by the staff and none was to blame for Morris not being rescued. He was sleeping near the origin of the fire, and was apparently overcome by fumes before the alarm was given. A verdict of accidentally burned was returned.
